Questions & Answers
I know they are mainly interchangeable, especially if you're not keeping emissions stuff.
But for the people who are keeping the emissions stuff and want the carb for the year they have, what are all of the differences you have found between years?
Here's what I know:
79/80 obviously are way different in how the air horn has a giant cut out for the main barrels (although I've heard it makes zero difference compared to the later air horns where this cut out is smaller).
The 79/80 have a fuel AND air adjuster screw where as the later ones only have a single screw.
The air horn on the 84/85 where the ALC (altitude lean control) valve connects has 2 vacuum ports sticking UP. Where as the 81-83 don't have those 2 vacuum ports. (Idk if the 79/80 even have the ALC valve)
The factory service manuals on foxed.ca and dportRotary.com only have the carb manuals for the 1980 and the 1985 so I'm curious as to what other little emissions stuff is different between 79-85 carbs and how can you tell which year the carb is from.
